The Batchain Pullers Review featuring...
JD Meatyard plus
Mankes, Tamsin A, Luko, Flying Starts & Moet
Saturday 1st December 2018 7:20pm
Tonight we are very pleased to welcome back long time friend of Number 39, the one and only JD Meatyard and if you've seen JD before you know it's going to be pugnacious, political, poignant and pure gold! But that's not all, we also have Mankes and KIN both from the Netherlands and Tamsin A.
JD Meatyard's previous lives as singer/shouter in Levellers 5 and Calvin Party featured heavily on the late great and much missed John Peel show on BBC radio. JD still retains all the rage and the passion delivered in a very considered fashion.
Get yourselves over to the JD Meatyard Website where there's some sample tracks and more info.
Mankes are a Dutch band who play an atmospheric, dynamic mix of dark folk with an influence of fado tinged with a ragged edge, the effect is poetic and cinematic. The Mankes Website has videos and links to other Mankes web pages.
Luko our regular friend and performer will be on guitar and voice.
Tamsin A comes from much closer, namely Salford and it's a warm welcome back since she has played Number 39 a number of times. Besides her solo act Tamsin is lead guitarist with the Manchester band Mr. Heart. Making clever use of guitar and vocals Tamsin creates some hard hitting songs with strong meaningful lyrics. For more info take a look at Tamsin's Facebook site.
The Flying Starts are an R'n'b, soul and funk from and beyond the beaten track of classic girl-band grooves. Seven-piece for every occasion (though maybe not a death metal festival).
Moet will be Master of Ceremonies and delivering some of his poetry.
