For their second time at Number 39 it's a pleasure to welcome back Jazz Measure.
Jazz Measure perform a mix of jazz, funk, rock and soul numbers from Bill Withers to Ella Fitzgerald. They also like to perform contemporary numbers (such as Can't Buy Me Love by The Beatles) in a Jazz context and visa versa.
The band features three top session musicians including one of Europe's top bass players namely Simon Goulding and completing the line-up we have Jonathan Gleave on drums with Andrew Gleave on vocals, keyboards and guitar.
Playing since he was 16 Simon Goulding has performed, toured, appeared on albums & recorded with many top artists such as The Bee Gees, Robbie Williams, Chris Farlowe, Ronan Keating, Sir Tim Rice, David Essex, Tony Christie, The Supremes and Elaine Paige to mention just a handful. He has also released a solo album and frequently featured on radio stations all around the world including BBC Radio 2 & 3, Jazz FM, Creative Chicago, PBS Melbourne, Gala Jazz Puerto Rico and Planichie Peru.
After studying music at Liverpool University, Andy Gleave's professional career began with a four or five year dalliance with the pop industry, including a spell with the band Rainbow Cottage. He soon turned to jazz, although not exclusively, and for many years has divided his time between jazz, pop and rhythm & blues. He has performed with artistes and bands as diverse as Tamla Motown groups The Temptations and The Miracles, jazz greats including trumpeter Bobby Shew and legendary guitarist Mundell Lowe, plus the Shades of Kenton Orchestra, Sounds 2000, the Art Lester Big Band and currently the Northern Jazz Orchestra.
Jonny Gleave excelled at music during his time at Canon Slade in Bolton and went on to further his music studies at Wigan & Leigh College. It soon became apparent that he was also most gifted at passing on his drumming expertise and began to teach as well as continuing his own education by completing a degree in Professional Musicianship. In addition Jonny has proved to be a creative composer with a unique style which combined with his musical expertise makes him quite an inspiration.
