This evening we are very pleased to present for the first time at Number 39 the Manchester born Lucy Mae and her band of fine musicians.
Lucy Mae met French multi-instrumentalist Luc Phan in 2012 and they have been writing partners and musical soulmates ever since. Luc plays Guitar & Sax and the other band members are Joe Wood on Drums, Tom Harris on Keys and Tom Chapman on Bass.
Lucy's music doesn't fit into any one genre, it's just a delightful cocktail mixed from the influences of 90's RnB, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday, The Cinematic Orchestra, Buena Vista Social Club and Hendrix.
"Her voice is a dip from the norm in the Manchester music scene, deep and powerful and enticingly ear catching. Makes you tingle." Cheryl Hill - Hive Radio
"Lucy Mae's archaic amalgam of soul, jazz and r'n'b is as timeless as her influences, despite her bringing a certain degree of the contemporary into the mix. Her voice, a delicate tour de force of pitch shifts and dynamics that has listeners on tenterhooks." Dave Beech - manchesterjazz.com
The Lucy Mae Facebook page has several videos and sound tracks, well worth a visit.
