Trevor Babajack Steger
Wednesday 24th April 2019 9pm
Currently on an extensive tour of Britain we are very happy to have lured Trevor Babajack Steger to Number 39 for this special performance.
Trevor Babajack Steger was raised on the only two records in his parents record collection, Johnny Cash and Rory Gallagher which sparked his musical interest enough to learn the guitar and play in a few local punk bands. But after discovering the Blues he bought himself a Sonny Boy Williamson record and a blues harp, then after years of practice and honing of skills he became well recognised enough for tours that took him across Europe and Africa.
After living in Zimbabwe he became the founder member and co-song writer of the multi-award winning band 'Babajack' which brought him to the forefront of the British Blues scene where he has been nominated numerous times for Best Harmonica Player along with Best Album and Song in the British Blues Awards.
"Howling Wolf meets Screaming Jay Hawkins.....carried on the wings of a wailing slide guitar." - Richard Wall (Blues in Britain)
"......he has an immediacy and charisma that draws you close to the music and I cannot think of any other solo artist that I've heard in the last couple of years who demands your attention in the same way. He makes music that I want to listen to" - Alan Pearce Editor, Blues Matters
