WorldService Project are currently touring the UK and as always we are most pleased that they fit Number 39 in to their schedule.
Based in London, the award winning WorldService Project are Dave Morecroft on keys/vocals/compositions, Tim Ower on saxophone, Raphael Clarkson on trombone, Arthur O'Hara on bass and Harry Pope on drums.
The uniqueness of WSP's music prevents it from being easily squeezed into any of the established genres. If you try to imagine a fusion of Jazz, Experimental, Punk and Avant Garde Rock mixed together with wisps of Zappa craziness all being played with an exuberant sense of fun and exquisite timing then you'd at least be pointing in the right direction!
"Like Downton Abbey run by anarchists...a mesmerising combination of brutality and dark humour. Their live sound, blending bleeding chunks of free brass noise with the ironic sentimentality of tracks like 'Requiem for a Worm', has only got better. The razor-sharp rhythmic edges are polished, the ensemble is painfully slick, and you can smell the rubber burning from their stylistic handbrake turns." - Matthew Wright, Jazzwise.
